4 Healthy Man-Meals Every Guy Will Devour

Buffalo Wings

A staple at any good sporting event, buffalo wings are versatile, portable, delicious, and loaded with calories. A typical serving of wings at a restaurant has around 1,000 to 1,500 calories. That’s almost an entire day’s worth of calories!

Changing the way these are prepared, you can cut the caloric intake by half.

Pizza

Pizza may be the world’s most perfect food. Since its origination, pizza has changed dramatically. In the beginning, it was a thinned crust bread with olive oil, fresh vegetables, and home made cheeses.

As technology advanced and food became more abundant, so did pizza toppings. Today we have options like the “Meatzza Feast” pizza, and deep dishes, which clock in around 700-800 calories per slice, and as everyone knows, one slice is not enough. By loading up on fresh ingredients and taking it easy on the cheese (sorry, everyone in Wisconsin), you can eat more than one slice, guilt free.

Steak

Sometimes a guy just wants to follow his primal instincts, and tear into a perfectly grilled steak. Luckily, if you choose the right cuts, and don’t go overboard with your portion size, steak is actually pretty good for you. It’s packed with protein, iron, and a slew of B vitamins (which are great for your immune system and for tissue repair).

Grilling is a healthy way to prepare meat, and it drains excess fat. You also want to stick to lean cuts, like sirloin, top round, and bottom round.

Recipe: Grilled Flank Steak – 318 calories (six ounce steak)

 

Mexican

As delicious as liquefied cheese is, it’s simply not the healthiest for us. Mexican food is very versatile. It can be very healthy (think fresco style), or it can be, well, Doritos disguised as dinner. Naturally, the more processed our food is, the worse it is for us. But if you take a few more minutes to use fresh ingredients, you can save yourself calories, and turn up the taste.

Recipe: Black Bean and Chicken Chilaquiles – 293 calories per serving
